A Bit About Me

Every journey begins somewhere and for me that was deciding to learn how to use the sewing machine was gifted to me yet sat unused for many years.  When I started learning, I sought out someone who could teach me. That person happened to be my mom. She was well versed in sewing and she helped kickstart me into the profession of sewing for others.

Making costumes for private clients over the past 10 years has helped me hone my skills, along with a few courses here and there at Costume College and through the San Diego Continuing Education program. After many years of sewing for others, I now teach as well. Those that would like to also learn how to use that sewing machine that has laid around for years or young people who are seeking outlets for their creativity. Your journey begins here!

Learning & Work Experience

January 2015-May 2015

October 2015 - Today

July (every year since 2015)

January 2022 - Today

Learning and creating at the San Diego Continuing Education program's class for draping and drafting patterns. Designed to help you transform the 2D aspects of fabric into 3D works for art, then transferring them to patterns for final use in creating something wearable & usable.

Transforming client ideas into completed costumes, clothing and bridal wear. For the past nine years, I've been creating wearable art for private clients. Circus, dance and historic reenactment for the most part, along with bridal wear and formal attire.

Learning new skills that can be applied to the creation of my clients costumes has been a constant endeavor. The most beneficial means for this has been to learn from others at an annual event called Costume College. Here, teachers and students converge to educate themselves and others in all aspects of creating. From hand and machine sewing techniques to prop creation to millinery and embroidery, there's something here for everyone.

I've been both student and teacher here for the past nine years and I look forward to it every year!!!

Teaching others has been a lifelong passion and as of early 2022, I've dedicated significant time towards teaching sewing skills to others so that more creative people can create for themselves. From young to old, it really doesn't matter, anyone can learn new skills. Come and learn the art of sewing with me!
